Since it was presumably Locke who somehow brought Sayid back to life, what was his role in Locke's grand plan? It makes no sense that Sayid would be the one to run to the back of the sub with the explosives in order to save Sawyer, Jack , Kate and Hurley. I don't get it? Can you explain?

It appears Locke had corrupted Sayid. When he ran to the back of the sub with the explosives he became a heroic martyr. He still had some control.

That being said, I feel if everyone listened to Jack the bomb would not have gone off. Smoke monster cannot kill the Candidates directly, he needs them to kill each other or natural death.

Un-locke's motive to kill the Candidates stems back to Jacob. Un-locke cannot escape the island until Jacob and all his followers are dead.
