Couldn't MiB have done all he wanted to do with some other corpse (he could have carried out his plan with Christian's body for instance)? There's nothing really specific about John Locke's body that gives him certain strange abilities (as you might suspect given John's 'specialness' on the island which is implied during the entire show) |
Smoke-Monster takes the form of dead peopleIf you remember correctly MIB doesn't take any ones body. The MIB was Jacobs brother. The smoke monster appears to have his own persona, who at one point resembled Jacobs brother (MIB). With that said, the smoke monster does not take and use corpses. He simply appears to have the ability to shape shift into the likeness of dead people. Jacob claimed that the smoke-monster was now "stuck" in Locke's form during the last season. Why did the Smoke-monster choose Locke's form?Locke was in a leadership position and had followers. Smoke-monster knew this and exploited it. If you remember back, the whole 5th season was not Locke, but the smoke-monsters actions! It tricked Ben and Richard into doing things they normally wouldn't have done. Appearances the smoke-monster took
To Long, Didn't ReadThe smokemonster (not the MIB) takes the form of dead people, but does not use their corpse. We know this is true because John Locke's body was left in the case/coffin on the beach while smoky was walking about. The Smoke-monster choose Locke's form because he could exploit the people on the islands trust. He stayed in Locke's likeness because he was stuck. |
